If no insurance-based benefits (CSED, GYED) are provided for the child, child care allowance is granted from the birth of the child (or from the child's first birthday in the case of grandparents), otherwise from the expiration of these benefits, under the following conditions:

  • Until the child reaches 3 years of age,
  • For twins, until the end of the year of compulsory schooling,
  • For chronically ill or severely disabled children, until they reach the age of 10.

Entitlement to child care allowance is extended to parents, legal guardians, and grandparents caring for a child in their own household who has reached the age of 1 year.

Parents may engage in employment without time restrictions when the child turns six month old alongside receiving child care benefit.
